A world of unlimited options
28th July 2016
A couple of weeks back when we were interacting with the children of weavers in Dindigul and Chinnalampatti, most of them were studying B.E Mechanical. When we asked if there was any special reason for them to study that particular course, the parents said that its the most inexpensive of the engineering courses !!… Most students and parents struggle with lack of knowledge on what to study and fall prey to peer pressure to choose Engineering or Medicine as a default option. The world needs other skills, other expertise as well.
My school friend Ravindra, shared this great graphic that clearly spells out the various streams that students can choose in their under graduate program in Science, Arts and Commerce. Please share this widely and help students in making the right choice. Please also share newer options that may be emerging as many of the new options will lead to niche jobs.
Will also try and get a similar graphic on job opportunities for each of the non-Engineering and non-medical degree courses. My head is spinning looking at the number of degrees that one can get …. and I certainly wish I had seen this graphic when I was about to start my degree course! I probably would have done a B.A in Travel and Tourism and become a super tourist guide.
