Today we started off on the next leg of the ShikshaDaan Yatra. We intend to cover the balance districts in TamilNadu, explore some of the districts in Telengana, Andhra and Maharashtra before getting back to Gurgaon.

What we are realising is that not every district has validated NGOs or good educational institutions, so we plan to focus and explore those districts where we find validated NGOs or educational institutions while still covering the other districts in transit. Today we have covered 5 districts in transit and 2 districts where we have potential partners.

The districts we covered in transit are Dholpur, Morena, Datia, Lalitpur and Sagar. We are assessing the possibility of working with a nursing college and a charitable hospital at Mathura and at Babina (Jhansi district) we will be visiting the school where our tea stall friend Mukesh’s sons are studying. In case anyone knows of validated NGOs at Dholpur, Morena, Datia, Lalitpur or Sagar, please inbox details at vgkrishnan@shikshadaan.com.

ShikshaDaan supports underprivileged students studying in good government colleges and schools … and we don’t mind supporting underprivileged students studying in private colleges with some fees waiver. Expensive colleges are a no-no. We are also realising that one can study in the premier institutions like IITs almost free if the family income is low. Our star beneficiary Shiv is studying at IIT Jodhpur, almost free.
