As you might have figured out from the website or during interactions with us, ShikshaDaan is not creating any new infrastructure. The idea is to use the existing educational infrastructure and ensure that the deserving student gets the scholarship to pursue his/her higher studies. It goes without saying that the deserving student will come from the financially underprivileged section of the society. We accomplish this by partnering with NGOs and educational institutions. 

As part of the ShikshaDaan Yatra we are going to every district in India, validating NGOs in the space of education and then partnering with them to identify and help our beneficiaries. We met with Sevalaya in Tiruninravur, near Chennai last month. We have written about them and the amazing work they do. Mr. Murali, graciously accepted our request for a partnership with ShikshaDaan and we are thrilled. As part of our discussions with Mr. Murali, we realised that we could get Sevalaya connected to two other great organizations – Junior Achievement, a partner of ShikshaDaan and English Helper, an amazing organization run by Mr. Sanjay Gupta. 

Junior Achievement has already conducted their first life skills program at Sevalaya and English Helper has conducted their demo session !! Ofcourse, the credit goes entirely to the super fast teams of all three organizations – JA, English Helper and Sevalaya. We at ShikshaDaan are just thrilled that we could make the connections. This is one of the big reasons we are doing the ShikshaDaan Yatra – to find collaboration opportunities for our partners, share best practices across the country. This is also the reason why a partnership with ShikshaDaan makes sense – we keep meeting amazing people and we are happy to make the connections.

There are two more pending connections for Sevalaya – getting them a set of DKFL books and getting Akshayapatra to provide the mid-day meal for the children there.
